Back in 2011, the Apes franchise was revived and rebooted with its first film, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. In 2014, the franchise became bigger and well-known with its second film, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. Now, in 2017, the franchise releases the film we have all been waiting for, War For The Planet Of The Apes. Is the film any good? How does it compare to the other Apes movies? Let’s find out.

War For The Planet Of The Apes picks up two years after the events of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes where Caesar(played by Andy Serkis) and his fellow apes engage in a brutal war against human forces led by The Colonel(played by Woody Harrelson).

The film, as a whole, is damn near perfect in my opinion. It delivers on many things you would expect from a film like this should and so much more. For instance, the film delivers on the emotional level. If you have followed this story up to this point, you are really going to be emotionally connected towards this film. This also means that you should watch the other Apes movies before you watch this one so that you could understand the story more.

Furthermore, the performances and visuals are astonishing and mouth dropping. There are moments in the film where you have to stop and realize that the apes are computer-generated and not actual apes. That’s how good the visuals are in this film. The performances are also really strong. Andy Serkis brought, in my opinion, his best performance as Caesar and quite possibly his best in his entire career so far. Woody Harrelson also brought an amazing performance as the villain character and makes you feel for him on a personal level.

Also, the story is very impressive and surprisingly more dramatic than action-packed. If you are going into this film expecting a gigantic war scene involving apes and humans, you are going to get that but that is not the main point of the film at all, which makes the film stronger and personal to watch.

The only real negative i had with the film is a certain scene in the film. I won’t say what that scene was. But, all i’ll say is that i wished that certain scene had more time in the film than what it actually got.

Besides that, War For The Planet Of The Apes is a near perfect movie. It has amazing performances, breathtaking visuals, and a well-crafted story to go with it. It is by far the best of the rebooted Apes movies and the best film of the year so far in my opinion. It is also in my opinion one the best conclusions to a trilogy ever in cinema. Check out this film as soon as you can. You don’t want to miss this one

War For The Planet Of The Apes Overall Score: 9.7/10=97%

Reasoning: Beautiful narrative, breathtaking visuals and amazing performances
